Durapest Pest Control
SERVING AURORA & SURROUNDING AREAS

Pest Control in Aurora

Aurora runs from the older streets around Aurora Village and Aurora Heights out to newer builds in Bayview Wellington and Bayview Northeast and the estate lots of Aurora Highlands along the moraine. Older homes have the settling gaps and aging soffits that let mice and squirrels in, while the moraine woodland and creek corridors at the edges push raccoons, skunks and carpenter ants toward the houses that back onto them.

NEIGHBOURHOODS WE COVER

Serving Aurora & its neighbourhoods

Aurora is about 50 km north of our East York base, roughly 35 to 50 minutes up Highway 404 depending on traffic. That is close enough that we can usually get to most calls without a long lead time, though peak 404 traffic can stretch the drive.

Why Local Knowledge Matters

Pest behavior varies significantly depending on the environment. A rat infestation in a downtown restaurant requires a completely different strategy than raccoon removal in a suburban attic.

From Aurora Village, Aurora Heights, Aurora Highlands to the rest of Aurora, knowing the local housing stock and geography — older homes, ravine corridors, waterfront — lets us find entry points faster and keep pests from coming back.

  • Technicians familiar with local bylaws
  • Solutions tailored to 1960s-70s bungalows and two-storey detached in the older core homes

Serving Aurora, answered

Straight answers to what Aurora homeowners ask us most.

Why do homes backing onto the Oak Ridges Moraine get more wildlife?
Aurora sits on the north flank of the moraine, and the protected woodland, Tannery Creek and conservation land running through town give raccoons, skunks and squirrels cover and a route between properties. Homes that back onto that green edge tend to see more attic and under-deck activity than ones in the middle of a subdivision.
I have an older home near Aurora Village. Does the age of the house matter for mice?
It does. The bungalows and century homes in the older core have had decades to settle, so they pick up gaps around the foundation, utility lines and aging soffits. Mice only need an opening about the width of a pencil, so on older houses we spend most of the visit finding and sealing those entry points, not just baiting.
We keep getting carpenter ants. Is that common in Aurora?
Yes. Carpenter ants are one of the more common calls here, partly because of the mature trees and treed lots through Aurora Heights and the Highlands. They look for damp or softened wood, so we check around rooflines, window frames and any spot where moisture has gotten into the wood, then treat the nest rather than just the trail you see.
If you trap a raccoon or squirrel, can you take it back toward the city?
No. Ontario law requires captured wildlife to be released within 1 km of where it was caught and within 24 hours, so it can't be hauled away. We use humane one-way doors to let the animal out and then seal the openings so it can't get back in.
